Clearing the Noise
What We Do: Clearing the Noise Finding Common Ground Testing the Hypothesis Spreading the Idea Getting Out of the Box

Often times management reviews the current situation as a stand alone event, without the ability to link the effect of past decisions as a critical part of understanding how the company is performing today. This knowledge is implicit in each manager’s head but is rarely captured and incorporated into the analysis of the current strategic decision making environment.

Causal Mental Model (Causal Thinking)The Institute for Strategic Clarity applies a strong methodology to map this implicit knowledge about how the company truly works from various key internal experts into one integrated, explicit model.

This integrated model identifies the key relationships among the key players, or areas, of the company. This also explores the underlying structure of the company and how this structure impacts the performance of the company over time.

A mining company client shared that "my colleagues and I have been here for over 30 years and, at the board level, the exercise showed us that we had significantly different views of how all the pieces linked together. This helped us advance significantly towards a more integrated vision."

The explicit model provides a commonly shared basis for discussing the basic dynamics that surround the key resources of the company or issue being studied. The mapping develops a deep, structural understanding of the situation and of the dynamic nature of the behavior that this structure produces.
